What began in 1995 as a father-son venture selling fresh lobster from Wesley House on Bay Street has grown into one of Barbados’ most iconic dining experiences. Art Taylor first supplied leading hotels and restaurants, then welcomed locals and visitors to enjoy lobster picnics right by the sea.
By 1998, with the creative touch of musician and artist Stu Jenkins, Lobster Alive (and all that Jazz) was born — blending world-class lobster with live jazz in a relaxed, beachfront setting. In 2016, Art’s wife Lisa added her culinary expertise, helping shape the restaurant into the beloved institution it is today.
Our lobsters are flown in several times a week from pristine Grenadine waters, held in tanks on Bequia before arriving fresh in Barbados. We proudly collaborate with local fisheries to ensure sustainability and support fisher folk across the islands.
For over 26 years, Lobster Alive has served the finest lobster with unforgettable live jazz.
